When i was a baby...
Paige was born at the Liverpool Womens Hospital on 23rd July 2006 weighing 6lb 7oz. i had just turned 18 at the time, had a normal birth and no complications during pregnancy.
At 12hrs old Paige turned blue and needed to be resusitated 5xtimes and was rushed to the special baby unit. Paige had lots of tests, and then was transferred to Alderhey Childrens Hospital after spending 2 weeks at the Womens.
We were told Paige was very poorly and may not see her 1st birthday :(
After what seemed like hundreds of tests we bought Paige home at 4 weeks old with no reason why she went blue at 12hrs old.
Paige developed normally. She started smiling rolling grasping but at 4 and half months old Paige started fitting and lost all this.
Paige became very lethargic sleeping so much, taking hours to feed and was in a gaze most days. then knew something was not right.
Paiges seizures started with little jumps (like the little jumps when you nod off to sleep and get disturbed) we thought she must of been dreaming! But they came in clusters and more frequently each time she went to sleep and woke up.
Paige was admitted to Alderhey and spent a furthur 5 months on Neurology Ward to be told Paige had a rare form of Epilepsy called West Syndrome. Her seizures kept changing and got worse with different medication. Drs still havnt been able to find the right cocktail of drugs but we have come to terms we may never. Consultants didnt think Paige would live to see her 1st Birthday as she was so poorly - even though Paige has spent the last 4 birthdays in hospital she has just celebrated her 5th birthday at home!! :D
